SystemonChip(SoC)hasbeentheenablingtechnologybehindtheevolutionofmanyoftoday’subiquitoustechnologies,suchasInternet,mobilewirelesstechnology,andhighdefinitiontelevision.Theinformationtechnologyage,inturn,hasfuelledaglobalcommunicationsrevolution.SoCdevicestodayincludesomeorallofthemajorelectronicstechnologies,comprisingRF,analog,optical,digital,andNano‐Electro‐MechanicalSystems(NEMS).Recentadvancesinsystems,deep‐submicronandnanoprocesstechnologyareunleashingnewopportunities,butalsocreatingnewchallenges.Managementsofdesignandverificationcomplexity,EDAtools,on‐chipcommunication,anddesignreuseforSoCsaresignificantcomplications,andSoCfaultdetectionisbecomingmoredifficultaschipsizeisincreasing.
